Abac Kids - Gyumri / Mental Arithmetic Center

Abac Kids in Gyumri is part of the Abac Academy network, which teaches mental arithmetic to children. The method came to Armenia in 2016 through Narine Balayan and Diana Hovhannisyan, who opened the first center on Demirchyan street under the name Abak.

The academy now runs Abac Kids centers both inside Armenia and abroad, describing the method it teaches as one with a history of several thousand years. Students take part in an annual olympiad: the 2026 edition held its prize ceremony at Yerevan Park on May 17, with the competition rounds run in the Tigran Mets hall of the Yerevan Marriott. Organizers counted 425 participants from Armenia, Georgia and Cyprus, plus online entrants from the United States, France, Germany, Spain and Latvia, competing by age group and difficulty level. The academy gave cash prizes to the top scorers in the hardest levels.

The center is in Gyumri, in Shirak region, roughly 88 km northwest of Yerevan in a straight line.
