Andranik

Андраник · Անդրանիկ

Andranik is a mountain summit at 3,109 m, marking the boundary between Shirak and Lori marzes (Armenian administrative regions) within the Javakheti range, on the line where Armenia meets Georgia. It lies about 7 km southeast of the village of Saragyugh.

The peak is built of volcanic rock from the Neogene and Quaternary periods. Its landscape is mountain-meadow — grass and low alpine plants rather than forest.

The peak sits in Shirak marz (Armenian administrative region) near the village of Saragyugh, on the border with Georgia, roughly 115 km north-northwest of Yerevan (straight-line).

Meadow terrain like this is best crossed in the warmer months, once snow has cleared from the higher ground.
