Angeghakot Reservoir

Ангехакотское водохранилище · Անգեղակոթի ջրամբար

Angeghakot Reservoir dams the Vorotan River in Syunik province, one link in the chain of reservoirs known as the Vorotan cascade, built to manage the river as it drops toward Sisian. It opened in 1977.

The reservoir is small. It covers 0.54 square kilometers and holds 3.4 million cubic meters of water. The dam itself is a concrete-and-gravel structure, 70 meters long and 29.4 meters high.

A bottom outlet controls how much water passes downstream toward the Tolors Reservoir. The same water also serves irrigation in the surrounding area.

The reservoir sits in Syunik province, on the Vorotan River near Sisian, roughly 140 km southeast of Yerevan in a straight line. There's no documented access road or turnoff here, so it's worth checking locally before setting out.
