Arjanotsi Mountains
горы Арджаноц · Արջանոցի լեռներ
The Arjanots Mountains (Արջանոցի լեռներ) form a 16-kilometer ridge in Gegharkunik region, the southeastern spur of the Pambak range rising above Sevan town — and for locals it has always been working ground rather than scenery, its upper slopes used for hay and pasture. The ridge runs from Ugheo peak along the right bank of the Dzknaget River to the Tsamakaberd peninsula, climbing at its highest point, Mount Arjanots, to 2385 meters.
The rock underfoot is volcanic, dating to the Eocene epoch, and the slopes are cut through by ravines, a rough, broken backdrop to what otherwise looks, from a distance, like simple grassy hills.
Above the ravines, the terrain opens into hay meadows and subalpine pasture. There's no record of marked trails or visitor facilities up here — it's grazing ground, nothing more.
The Arjanots Mountains lie in Gegharkunik region, near Sevan town, roughly 58 km north-northeast of Yerevan by straight-line distance. Road access and trailhead details aren't recorded here — best checked locally in Sevan.
The hay meadows and pastures are at their best from late spring through summer; at 2385 meters, snow keeps the higher ground closed off for much of the rest of the year.
