ARMENIAN KYOKUSHIN KARATE FEDERATION

The Armenian Kyokushin Karate Federation trains athletes in Kyokushin karate, a full-contact martial art. The federation was founded in 2005, though a Kyokushin club had already been running in Yerevan since 2001.

Its president is Andranik Hakobyan, who holds a 5th dan black belt and the title of Shihan (senior instructor rank) and has coached in Armenia for about 20 years. Since 2002 the federation has organized tournaments, exhibition matches, and training seminars, and since 2005 it has covered athletes' travel costs for foreign competitions at no charge to them.

Over the years its athletes have competed internationally, including in Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Greece, and Hungary.

The federation is based in Yerevan, roughly 4 km west-northwest of the city center (straight-line).
