Bechenagskiy Pereval

Биченекский перевал · Սիսիանի լեռնանցք

Bechenagskiy Pereval is a mountain pass on the Zangezur ridge, at roughly 2,345 m, marking a stretch of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in Syunik. It's also called the Sisian pass, and shows up under a string of near-identical spellings — Bejanak, Bichanag, Bjnagh, among others.

The pass connects two river systems, carrying the route between the Vorotan valley and the Nakhichevan valley. The ground around it holds a lot of water and supports thick plant growth.

The Sisian–Nakhichevan highway, a 93-km road, crosses the pass, but the section continuing into Nakhichevan is closed.

The pass lies in Syunik region, roughly 131 km east-southeast of Yerevan as the crow flies. No town is listed at the site itself.
