Cafesjian Sculpture Garden
Каскад · Գաֆեսջյանի արձանների պուրակ
The garden occupies the outdoor terraces of the Cascade, the tiered stone staircase and fountain complex that climbs from the gardens and pedestrian zone on Tamanyan Street up through Yerevan's central Kentron district. Contemporary sculptures are placed along the landings, making the ascent itself part of the experience, while the enclosed galleries inside the Cascade house the museum proper.
Both the garden and the center were founded by Gerard Cafesjian, an American-Armenian businessman, and opened in November 2009. His initiative went beyond a simple donation of art: it involved restoring the Cascade complex itself and turning it into a venue for contemporary culture, built around his own collection.
Beyond the sculpture displays, the center runs exhibitions and a mix of educational, cultural, and concert programs aimed at visitors of all ages, making it as much a working cultural institution as a static outdoor gallery.
The garden sits in central Yerevan's Kentron district, at the foot and along the terraces of the Cascade on Tamanyan Street — an easy walk from most points in the city center.
The outdoor terraces can be visited year-round, though the walk up the open staircase is more pleasant outside the coldest winter months; the indoor galleries operate independently of the weather.
