Chanut
Чанут · Ճանուտ
Chanut (Ճանուտ) is a lake at 2,660 meters on the Syunik plateau, in the eastern sector of the Sev Lich (Black Lake) basin, right where Syunik region meets Artsakh. It covers 30 hectares, with Goris the nearest town of any size.
That's essentially all that's on record. There's no marked trail up here, and nothing built out — no signage, no shelter, no visitor setup.
If you're set on reaching it, treat it as backcountry: confirm access and conditions locally before heading up. This sits on a high border plateau, not a place to wing it.
Chanut lies in Syunik region, near Goris, on the border with Artsakh — ~162 km east-southeast of Yerevan (straight-line), high on the Syunik plateau.
