Charles Aznavour Square
Площадь Шарля Азнавура · Շառլ Ազնավուրի հրապարակ
Charles Aznavour Square takes its name from the French-Armenian singer, given in 2001 as part of the events marking ten years of Armenian independence. It sits off Abovyan Street, framed by the Moscow Cinema, the Stanislavski Russian Theatre, and the Grand Hotel Yerevan.
Before it carried Aznavour's name, the spot did other work: it hosted the Yerevan Vernissage, an open-air market, before that moved to its current site.
Today the square holds a fountain, a scatter of city sculptures, and the Alley of Movie Stars. The Artists' Union of Armenia also keeps its offices here.
The square is in Kentron, Yerevan's central district, off Abovyan Street — ~1 km northeast of Yerevan (straight-line).
