Dalidagh Ridge

Далидаг · Դալիդաղ

Dalidagh Ridge runs about 54 km northwest along the frontier of Armenia's Gegharkunik and Tavush regions and Azerbaijan. It starts where the Aghstev and Getik rivers meet and ends at Kashatagh peak in the southeast. The high point is Miapor, at 2,993 m.

Slopes differ by side. West and south faces drop steeply; the east side slopes gently. Forest covers the ridge up to roughly 2,000 m, including groves of karmrdzar shrubs (literally "red tree"). Above that line, the ground opens into subalpine and alpine meadow.

Near Haghartsin village stand two named rock formations: Abeghakar ("monk's stone") and Sari kar ("mountain's stone"). The ridge's southwestern section lies inside Dilijan National Park. It also has adequate water reserves, per the geographic record.

Dalidagh Ridge sits in Tavush region near Dilijan, on the ridge line bordering Gegharkunik and Azerbaijan — roughly 82 km north-northeast of Yerevan (straight-line).

Forest holds to about 2,000 m; above that, alpine and subalpine meadow takes over.
