DIANA APCAR Monument
памятник Диане Апкар · Դիանա Աբգար հուշարձան
The Diana Apcar Monument in Yerevan commemorates Diana Apcar (1859–1937), a writer and humanitarian of the Armenian diaspora. She served as honorary consul to Japan for the First Republic of Armenia between 1918 and 1920, and is recognized as the first Armenian woman diplomat and one of the earliest female diplomats anywhere in the modern era.
The monument is maintained by the Diana Apcar Foundation, which also runs programs supporting refugees and displaced people, promotes women's participation in diplomacy and public service, and gives an annual award in politics, diplomacy, social service, and philanthropy. The foundation has also worked toward establishing a Diana Apcar Museum in Yerevan.
The monument stands in Yerevan, roughly 7 km east-northeast of the city center in straight-line terms.
