Ernjak

Алинджа · Երնջակ

Ernjak is a 3,368-meter summit in the central Zangezur mountains, sitting exactly on the line between Armenia's Syunik region and the Julfa district of Nakhichevan. Two rivers, the Ayri and the Ernjak, both begin here.

The mountain is built from volcanic-sedimentary rock. Its lower slopes are steep and covered in vegetation, but the summit itself is bare, broken rock with almost no soil cover — gravitational rockfall and frost weathering keep reshaping it.

The peak carries several older names besides Ernjak, among them Damirdagh, Damirli, Demur, and the Armenian Erkatasar.

Ernjak stands in Syunik marz (region), about 16 km northwest of the village of Kitsk, roughly 154 km southeast of Yerevan (straight-line).
