Ghazi lič
Гази лич · Ղազի լիճ
Ghazi lič is a lake (lič, "lake" in Armenian) on the southwest edge of the Geghama mountain range in Kotayk region, sitting at 2230 m. It formed when volcanic activity dammed the terrain, and rock formations and scree surround it on most sides.
It's a modest body of water: 300 m long, 200 m wide, covering 0.08 km². The maximum depth is only 3 m, holding a volume of roughly 160,000 m³. Springs and precipitation keep it fed year-round, though the water itself runs turbid rather than clear. It's used for irrigation.
Ghazi lič lies in Kotayk region near the town of Garni, on the southwest side of the Geghama mountain range, about 27 km east of Yerevan (straight-line).
At 2230 m, the lake sits high enough that snow cover likely limits access in winter and early spring.
