Institute of Literature

The Institute of Literature (M. Abeghyan Institute of Literature) is a state research body in Yerevan organized around several departments: Old and medieval Armenian literature, modern Armenian literature, contemporary Armenian literature, diaspora Armenian literature, and foreign literature and literary theory. It also runs a textual studies department and a group focused on the poet Hovhannes Tumanyan.

The institute maintains academic and specialized councils that oversee doctoral and candidate dissertation defenses, along with a council for young researchers. It publishes a literary studies journal and keeps a library holding its own publications alongside other books on Armenian literature.

The institute sits in Yerevan, roughly 1 km west-southwest of the city center in a straight line.
