Harichavank Monastery

Монастырь Аричаванк · Հառիճավանք

Harichavank is a monastery complex near Harich village in Shirak province, its oldest building dating to the 7th century — the Church of St. Grigor. Prayer chambers called aghotarans (small prayer halls) were added alongside it in the 13th century.

The complex's main church was commissioned in 1201 by the brothers Zakare and Ivane. It's a cross-shaped domed structure that dominates the site today.

Harichavank sits in Shirak province, near Harich village — itself about 3 km southeast of Artik — roughly 65 km northwest of Yerevan as the crow flies.
