Harsnasar
Арснасар · Հարսնասար
Harsnasar is a 2,773 m peak on the border between Armenia's Vayots Dzor province and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, part of the Vayk mountain range. It is built of limestone, marl, and sandstone.
Its upper slopes carry pasture, and the lower ground is mountain-steppe vegetation cut for hay. The peak sits about 4 km from the village of Gnishik.
The name means "bride's peak." Local legend holds that during a war, a girl watching a battle below saw her beloved killed, then threw herself from the summit and died.
Harsnasar rises in Vayots Dzor province, on the border with Nakhichevan, roughly 90 km southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
