Havuts Tar
Авуц Тар · Հավուց Թառի վանք
Havuts Tar is a walled monastery complex built between the 11th and 13th centuries, on a promontory above the Azat River valley opposite the villages of Garni and Goght.
Getting there means crossing the gorge from Khosrov State Reserve. A trail leaves the reserve entrance on its east side and leads directly to the monastery. A second route follows the road along the Azat River past the fish ponds, joining a shortcut near where the road ends.
Havuts Tar is in Kotayk province, near Garni village, about 23 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line, on high ground across the Azat River gorge.
