Holy Mother of God Church

Церковь Святой Богородицы · Սուրբ Աստվածածին եկեղեցի

Holy Mother of God Church is a 7th-century Armenian church in Voskepar, built to a cruciform central-plan design known as the "Mastara" type. Its roof was originally tiled.

The church was reconstructed between 1975 and 1977. During the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, fighting reached the area and destroyed the neighboring Azerbaijani village of Aşağı Əskipara, but the church itself remained standing.

Voskepar sits in Tavush region, close to the border with Azerbaijan, about 110 km north-northeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
