Hrazdan stadium
Стадион Раздан · Հրազդան
Hrazdan stadium is the biggest sports arena in Armenia, a two-tiered concrete bowl built in Yerevan in 1970 by architects Koryun Hakobyan and Gurgen Musheghyan with engineer Eduard Tosunyan. In its Soviet-era prime it ranked among the four largest stadiums in the USSR, and it remains the only two-tiered stadium in the country.
The original bowl held up to 70,000 spectators. A 2008 reconstruction converted it into an all-seater venue, which brought the official capacity down to 54,208 — still far larger than any other ground in Armenia.
For most of the 1990s the stadium served as home ground for the Armenia national football team, hosting matches there until 1999; since then it has staged internationals only occasionally. It has repeatedly hosted Armenian Cup finals, opened the 2003 Pan-Armenian Games, and in 1978 saw the Soviet Union national team play twice on its pitch, against Finland and Greece.
