Jajurri Lerrnants’k’, Shirak, Armenia

Jajurri Lerrnants’k’

Джаджурский перевал · Ջաջուռի լեռնանցք

Jajurri Lerrnants'k' (Jajur mountain pass) sits at 1,952 meters, at the point where the Shirak and Pambak mountain ranges join. It's the link between the Shirak plain and the Pambak depression.

The Gyumri-Vanadzor highway crosses the pass on the surface, while the Yerevan-Tbilisi railway goes under it through a tunnel.

Storms are frequent here, and in severe winter snowstorms the pass is sometimes closed.

The pass lies in Shirak region, roughly 88 km north-northwest of Yerevan as the crow flies.

Winter travel can be unreliable — heavy snowstorms occasionally force closure of the pass.
