Jermuk Waterfall

Водопад Джермук · Ջերմուկի ջրվեժ

Jermuk Waterfall falls 68 meters over three dome-shaped rock terraces, making it Armenia's second-highest waterfall after the Kasakh waterfall. It runs on the Jermuk stream, a right-side tributary of the Arpa River, and sits right inside the town of Jermuk. No glacier feeds it. The stream rises from local springs, then works its way down the terraces, each level breaking the fall of the one above, before joining the Arpa below.

The shape is what sets it apart from a single sheer drop: three staged steps rather than one plunge, rounded by the rock rather than cut sharp. Because it's inside town, it makes an easy short stop rather than a hike out to it.

How much the flow changes through the seasons isn't documented here — worth asking locally if you're visiting outside summer.

Jermuk is in Vayots Dzor region, southeast of Yerevan. The waterfall itself is inside the town, just off the built-up center on the Jermuk stream — best approached as part of getting to Jermuk itself.

The stream is spring-fed rather than glacier-fed, so it's best to check locally how the flow varies across the year rather than assume a fixed season for it.
