Kapanu

Капану · Կապանու

Kapanu is a 2781-meter peak straddling the border of Aragatsotn and Kotayk marzes (administrative regions), at the northwestern end of the Tsaghkunyats ridge. It's also recorded under the name Damlik Gyaduk. What sets it apart from a plain summit is what sits on its flank: a chapel and a spring tied to local healing tradition.

The chapel, known as Tukh Manuk ("dark youth," a local saint's shrine) and locally called Verivank, stands on the slope next to the spring, whose water is regarded locally as healing.

The peak lies about 3 km northeast of Lusagyugh and roughly 21 km south of Vanadzor.

Kapanu is in Aragatsotn marz (administrative region), near Aparan town, on the boundary with Kotayk marz. Straight-line, it's about 52 km north of Yerevan.
