Karakhach mountain pass

Karakhach mountain pass crosses the range between the Javakheti and Gogaran mountains in Shirak region, at 2,273 meters. It lies about 4 km east of Harthashen village and roughly 25 km northeast of Gyumri.
The pass connects the Shirak and Lori plains, and joins the upper Akhuryan river basin to the Dzoraget basin. The Gyumri–Tashir highway runs through it.
Snow closes the road here often in winter.
The pass is in Shirak region, about 25 km northeast of Gyumri, and roughly 103 km north-northwest of Yerevan (straight-line).
Winter snow frequently closes the road over the pass, so check conditions before relying on this route.
