Memorial to the victims of political repression
Мемориал жертвам политических репрессий · Բռնադատվածների հուշահամալիրը
The Memorial to the Victims of Political Repression, often called the Cascade Memorial, commemorates people killed or deported during Soviet-era repression. It stands at the top of the Yerevan Cascade, beside an obelisk raised for the 50th anniversary of Soviet Armenia.
Jim Torosyan, who served as Yerevan's chief architect from 1971 to 1981, is credited with the design. Building work began in the late 1980s, and the memorial was finished around 2008.
The memorial stands in central Yerevan, at the top of the Cascade complex, next to the obelisk marking 50 years of Soviet Armenia.
