Mher Mkrtchyan Home and Museum
Дом-музей Мера Мкртчяна · Մհեր Մկրտչյանի թանգարան
Mher Mkrtchyan Home and Museum sits in Gyumri, dedicated to the actor known across Armenia simply as Frunzik. He held the title People's Artist of the USSR and worked as a comic actor on stage and screen. The museum was founded in 2004. It opened its doors on December 20, 2006.
The building itself predates the museum by a century. Built in the late 1800s, it's recognized as a structure of historical and architectural value in its own right, separate from what it now houses.
For Armenians who grew up watching Soviet-era cinema, Frunzik's name still carries real weight. This museum gives that affection a fixed address — the house where his memory is kept rather than left to old film reels and family stories.
The museum is in Gyumri, the main city of Shirak region, roughly 90 km northwest of Yerevan as a straight line. Exact street access and opening arrangements are best checked locally before visiting.
