Moscow Cinema opened on December 12, 1936, on Abovyan Street in what's now Charles Aznavour Square, and it carried a real distinction from its first screening — the first cinema in Yerevan, and in Armenia, built with two separate halls rather than the single one most theaters of the day made do with. That alone set it apart among the city's early venues.

The building is listed among the historical and cultural monuments of Yerevan's Kentron community. It still runs as a working cinema. Doors open daily, 10:00 to 22:00.
