Mother Armenia

Mother Armenia is a monumental female figure representing the country, set on a hill in the southwest part of Gyumri. It was erected in 1975, echoing the better-known Mother Armenia complex in Yerevan, and stands close to the Black Fortress (Sev Berd) and Victory Park.

The statue was made by sculptors Ara Sargsian, Gaspar Gasparyan and Yerem Vartanyan, with Rafik Yeghoyan as architect. It is listed among Gyumri's registered immovable monuments of history and culture.

The statue stands on a hill west of central Gyumri, in Shirak region, roughly 89 km northwest of Yerevan as the crow flies.
