Museum of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

Эчмиадзинский музей Кафедрального Собора · Էջմիածնի Մայր Տաճարի թանգարան

The Museum of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin isn't a separate structure — it's built directly into the cathedral, occupying the whole southeastern wing. Catholicos (head of the Armenian Apostolic Church) Gevorg IV of Constantinople had it built in 1869, with money raised from the Armenian community in Russia.

The building runs along the south and east sides of the cathedral, matching the full width of the Avag Khoran (Main Altar) behind it. That placement ties the museum physically to the cathedral's own liturgical space rather than setting it apart as a standalone gallery.

The site is in Vagharshapat, Armavir region, about 18 km west of Yerevan as the crow flies.
