Museum of Wooden Art
Музей Деревянного Искусства · Փայտարվեստի Թանգարան
The Museum of Wooden Art, on Paronyan Street in Yerevan, opened in 1977 as the only museum of its kind in the country dedicated entirely to wood. It holds sculptures, carved tools, household objects and jewelry made from wood, gathered first through donations and later through expeditions and acquisitions.
Painter Grigor Khanjyan designed the museum's exhibition layout, and blacksmith Vardan Ohanyan made the metal decoration. Beyond the permanent collection, the museum runs thematic and author exhibitions and organizes lectures and cultural events for visitors of different ages, alongside professional training in carving and art restoration.
Entrance is free. There's no cafe or souvenir shop on site, but the museum has parking, wifi and restrooms, and allows photography and video.
The museum sits in Yerevan, on Paronyan Street, roughly 1 km west of the city center in straight-line distance.
