National Museum-Institute of Architecture after Alexander Tamanyan
Национальный музей-институт архитектуры Александра Таманяна · Ալեքսանդր Թամանյանի անվան ճարտարապետության ազգային թանգարան-ինստիտուտ
The National Museum-Institute of Architecture after Alexander Tamanyan is a state research and exhibition body in Yerevan focused on Armenian architecture. It began on 25 January 1988 as the State Museum of Armenian Architecture, was renamed the National Museum of Architecture of Armenia in 1993, took on a formal research mandate under a 1997 government decision, and in 2016 was renamed again to carry the name of Alexander Tamanyan, an eminent Armenian architect.
The museum runs two exhibition halls, one named Tamanyan and one Trdat. One recent show, "Jim Torosyan: Master of Beauty," marked the 100th anniversary of that architect's birth. Beyond the physical halls, the institute offers virtual tours of its holdings and runs educational programs.
It's open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 17:00. There's a restroom on site, and the museum is set up for visits with children.
The museum is in Yerevan itself, not a separate town or site outside the city.
