Nrbuyn Fortress

Nrbuyn Fortress (Նրբույն բերդ) is a medieval stronghold that once stood within the historic Syunik province's Vayots Dzor district of Greater Armenia. Today its remains lie in the northwest of the modern Vayots Dzor region, set close to the summit of Mount Shreshtasar.

Little beyond its location and medieval origin is documented, and no history of construction, ownership, or later use is recorded. It survives today primarily as a marker of the dense network of fortifications that once studded this mountainous corner of historic Armenia.

The fortress sits in the northwestern part of Vayots Dzor region, near the top of Mount Shreshtasar — expect to approach it as a mountain hike rather than a drive-up site, with the nearest towns and roads of Vayots Dzor serving as a starting point.

Given its perch near a mountain summit, access is best planned for the warmer months when snow and weather are less of a concern.
