QARANDZAV" RESTAURANT

Qarandzav is a tavern-restaurant built into a natural cave on the road to Noravank monastery, in Vayots Dzor. According to the business, it serves Armenian traditional dishes made from fresh, natural ingredients, set in a stone-and-wood interior.

The restaurant is run by Vardges Gharakhanyan, who also works as a ranger for the Arpa Protected Landscape under the Arpa Environmental Foundation, working with WWF-Armenia. He describes himself as active in ecotourism and nature protection along the gorge leading to Noravank.

Qarandzav also runs a bed-and-breakfast guest house in nearby Areni village, with a living room, one guest bedroom with private bathroom, and a kitchen.

Qarandzav is in Vayots Dzor marz (region), on the road that leads to Noravank monastery, close to Areni village, where its guest house is located.
