Samsonavank, Tavush, Armenia

Samsonavank

Самсонаванк · Սամսոնավանք

Samsonavank is a small monastic complex from the 12th and 13th centuries, built into the forested slopes of a mountain in Tavush province, northern Armenia.

Deghdznuti Vank, a 13th-century monastery, lies about 6 km to the north — meaning Samsonavank sits on the southern end of the same stretch of slopes. The medieval fort of Berdakar stands nearby as well.

Samsonavank is in Tavush province, roughly 99 km north-northeast of Yerevan as the crow flies. It's easiest reached via the village of Yenokavan, near the town of Ijevan.
