Sardar's Fortress
крепость Сардара · Սարդարի ամրոց
Sardar's Fortress is the ruin of a 19th-century fortress and settlement built during the Erivan Khanate, the Qajar Iranian territory that once held this part of what is now Armenia. It's also known as Sardarabad or Sardari Berd — berd (fortress).
It wasn't just a garrison post. The site combined defensive walls with a working settlement, though little else about its layout or history has come down to us.
The ruins lie near the village of Nor Armavir, in Armavir province. What remains on the ground today — walls, foundations, scattered stone — isn't well documented, so it's worth checking locally before making a special trip.
The ruins sit in Armavir province, near the village of Nor Armavir, about 41 km west of Yerevan.
The site sits exposed on open plain with no shade or shelter — worth going prepared for strong summer sun and for mud after rain.
