Settlement of Aknashen

Акнашенское поселение · Ակնաշեն ավան

The Settlement of Aknashen is a Neolithic-era site in the Ararat valley, on the outskirts of Vagharshapat in Armavir region. Archaeologists group it with the nearby Aratashen settlement as part of the southwestern regional cluster of the Shulaveri-Shomu archaeological culture, a Neolithic culture found across the wider South Caucasus.

There isn't much published beyond this classification — no site museum, no marked visiting infrastructure. It matters mainly as a data point for researchers tracing early farming settlement in the valley floor rather than as a place with anything built to see.

The site lies in Armavir region, on the edge of Vagharshapat, roughly 21 km west-southwest of Yerevan as the crow flies.
