Shativank
Шативанк · Շատիվանք
Shativank sits on a mountainside above the left bank of the Yeghegis river, just below the summit, about 4 km east of the village of Shatin. Bishop Hakob of Syunik founded it in 929, according to the medieval historian Stepanos Orbelian.
The historical record on this site is thin beyond that founding date and location — no later building phases or figures are documented here.
Shativank is in Vayots Dzor region, near Yeghegnadzor town and about 4 km east of Shatin village, roughly 79 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
