Silk Road Bridge, Ani
Мост Ани · Անիի կամուրջ
The Silk Road Bridge, also called Ani Bridge, spans the Akhuryan river (known locally as Arpachay) beside the ruins of Ani, straddling the present-day line between Armenia and Turkey. Built in the 10th-11th centuries, it carried traffic on a stretch of the Great Silk Road, linking trade routes that passed through the city.
Within Ani itself, the old road ran between the Manuchihr Mosque and the Cathedral of Ani before reaching the bridge, which was the largest of the crossings built at the site.
The bridge sits in Shirak region, at the edge of the Ani ruins on the Akhuryan river, roughly 88 km west-northwest of Yerevan in a straight line.
