St. Hripsime
Церковь Святой Рипсиме (Горис) · Սուրբ Հռիփսիմե Եկեղեցի (Գորիս)
St. Hripsime is a single-nave basilica of the Armenian Apostolic Church, standing at the site of Old Goris in the Syunik region. An inscription on the lintel of the south entrance names the builder: Melik Ohan, son of Paghri, a local hereditary lord (melik) who commissioned the church.
Before that inscription was found, architectural features had led researchers to estimate the church's date to the 17th century. The lintel text settled the question: it records construction in the Armenian calendar year corresponding to 1776.
The church sits at the Old Goris site in the Syunik region, near the town of Goris, about 174 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
