St. Mariane Church

Церковь Святой Марине · Սուրբ Մարինե եկեղեցի

St. Mariane Church, also recorded as St. Marineh, is a medieval church in Ashtarak dedicated to St. Marina of Antioch. It functions today as the alternative seat of the Diocese of Aragatsotn of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

It belongs to a group of old churches scattered around Ashtarak, including Karmravor, Spitakavor, Tsiranavor, and Surp Sarkis. A stone bridge from 1664 spans the gorge close by, and from the far side, at Surp Sarkis, St. Mariane is the one you can pick out across the gap.

The church stands near the junction of a few named streets in town — Smbat Shahaziz, Perch Proshyan, and Parpetsi — tucked into the older grid of Ashtarak rather than fronting a main road.

St. Mariane Church is in Ashtarak, Aragatsotn region, roughly 19 km northwest of Yerevan (straight-line).
