St. Stepanos (Aghjots Vank)
Монастырь Агджоц · Աղջոց վանք
St. Stepanos, or Aghjots Vank, is a 13th-century monastery complex set along a tributary of the Azat River inside the Khosrov State Reserve. It sits a half-mile walk from the hamlet of Mets Gilanlar, close to the villages of Goght and Garni in Ararat province. The complex includes churches, a gavit (entrance hall attached to the church), monastic buildings, and a cemetery.
The reserve around it holds two other sites worth knowing about: the fortress of Kakavaberd and the monastic complex of Havuts Tar, both within reach of the same protected area.
Aghjots Vank lies in Ararat province, near the village of Garni, inside the Khosrov State Reserve — roughly 26 km east-southeast of Yerevan as the crow flies.
