Surb Astvatsatsin Church (Artik)

Церковь Пресвятой Богородицы (Артик) · Եկեղեցի Սբ. Աստվածածին (Սբ. Մարինե)

Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church in Artik is a small, partly ruined Armenian church whose construction is placed in the 4th to 6th centuries — old enough that no record of its founding survives. What's left stands east of the town's Surb Gevorg (Holy George) church.

The building also goes by Poqr Marine, or Small Marine, church. No inscription fixes an exact date; historians have instead worked from the church's floor plan, the layout of its ground-level structure, to place it in that broad four-century window.

The church stands in the town of Artik, Shirak region, roughly 67 km northwest of Yerevan in a straight line.
