Taniki Fortress

Таник · Թանիկի ամրոց

Taniki Fortress is a small medieval stronghold in Tavush region, set on a low hill east of Gandzaqar village, in a district locals call Taniki. People here also know it as Hakob Bek's Cross (Հակոբ Բեկի խաչ), a name that has stuck for generations.

The fortress covers about 1 hectare, ringed by thick defensive walls. Inside, the foundations of old dwellings are still visible, marking out where people once lived within the enclosure.

Taniki Fortress lies in Tavush region, on a hill east of Gandzaqar village near Ijevan, roughly 91 km northeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
