Tavush reservoir

Тавушское водохранилище · Տավուշի ջրամբար

Tavush reservoir was built to water the fields of five villages, finished in 1975 on the Tavush river just south of Tavush village itself. That's its whole reason for being: irrigation for Verin Karmiraghbyur, Tavush, Nerqin Karmiraghbyur, Movsesgegh, and Chinchin, covering some 1,200 hectares of farmland.

The reservoir itself is modest — 40 hectares of surface, 4.5 million cubic meters of water, 1.9 km long with a maximum width of 360 m.

The reservoir sits in Tavush marz (region), just south of Tavush village, about 112 km northeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
