Theatre Named After H. Abelyan is Vanadzor's state drama theatre, and its founding carries a specific distinction: opened in 1931, it was only the third drama theatre established in the republic at that time.
It carries the name of Hovhannes Abelyan. Beyond the 1931 opening and its place among the republic's earliest theatres, little else is documented about the building or its early years.
The theatre is in Vanadzor, in Lori marz, roughly 70 km north of Yerevan in a straight line.
