Tolors Reservoir
Толорсское вдхр · Տոլորսի ջրամբար
Tolors Reservoir forms where the Sisian and Ayri rivers meet, about 3 km south of Sisian town, at roughly 1650 m elevation. Commissioned in 1976, it's one of the main regulating reservoirs of the Vorotan hydropower cascade, sending water downstream to the Shamb and Tatev hydro plants.
The reservoir runs 4.5 km long, covers 4.7 km², and averages 32 m in depth, with a total capacity of 96.8 million m³ (80 million m³ of it usable). Holding it back is a 178 m dam of gravel and cobble with a sand-clay core, rising up to 68 m. Its water serves both energy generation and irrigation.
Tolors Reservoir sits in Syunik region, about 3 km south of Sisian town, roughly 150 km east-southeast of Yerevan (straight-line).
