Tsitsernakaberd
Цицернакаберд · Ծիծեռնակաբերդ
Tsitsernakaberd is Armenia's state memorial to the victims of the 1915 Armenian genocide. It was built in 1967 on the hill of the same name in Yerevan, designed by sculptor Van Khachatryan and architect Arthur Tarkhanyan.
Every year on April 24, Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, thousands climb the hill to lay flowers for the dead. Over the decades the memorial has drawn visits from politicians, artists, musicians, athletes, and religious figures from outside Armenia.
The memorial sits on its hill about 2 km west-northwest of central Yerevan, straight-line.
