Wood-carving museum

Музей резьбы по дереву · Հայաստանի փայտարվեստի թանգարան

Yerevan's Wood-carving museum opened in 1977, given over entirely to the craft of carved wood. Wood-industry minister Albert Stepanyan set it in motion.

Two artists lent it standing at the start. Grigor Khanjyan, a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts and a USSR People's Artist, backed the founding. So did Hovhannes Sharambeyan, honored in Armenia as a distinguished artist and arts figure.

The museum sits within Yerevan itself, west-northwest of the city center, about 2 km off in a straight line.
