Zorah Wine
Зора винный завод · Զորահ գինեգործարան
Zorah produces wine in Rind, a village in Vayots Dzor province — one of Armenia's oldest and most respected winegrowing areas. The estate works with Areni, the indigenous red grape that has put this valley on the world wine map.
The winery's reputation rests largely on a single moment of recognition: in 2012, Bloomberg Businessweek ran a blind tasting of 4,000 wines from around the world and named ten standouts. Zorah's Karasi Areni Noir was among them — a rare instance of an Armenian wine being singled out on that scale, and one that helped draw international attention to Vayots Dzor as a serious wine region.
For visitors interested in Armenian wine, Zorah is a useful reference point when tracing how the country's winemaking has developed around the Areni grape and the Vayots Dzor terroir.
Rind sits in Vayots Dzor province, in the general area around Yeghegnadzor, one of the main towns along the Yerevan–Areni–Yeghegnadzor road that threads through this wine-growing valley.
