Alsar tops out at 1,854 meters, making it the highest summit of the Yerakh mountain ridge in Ararat region. Older maps and local usage also record it as Alakhper, Alaakhper, Allaakhper, and Allahakbar — the same peak under several names.
It sits about 11 km southwest of the village of Kaqavaberd, on the Garni side of the range.
Alsar is in Ararat region, near the town of Garni, roughly 28 km southeast of Yerevan in a straight line, and about 11 km southwest of the village of Kaqavaberd.
