Argisztihinili

Аргиштихинили · Արգիշտիխինիլի

Argisztihinili was a fortified town of the Urartian kingdom, raised during King Argishti I's push into the Transcaucasus and named for him. It existed from the 8th to the 6th century BC.

Its ruins lie between the villages of Nor-Armavir and Armavir, on what was once the left bank of the middle Aras River. The river has since shifted several kilometers south, leaving the old fortress well inland from the water it was built beside.

The site is in Armavir marz, near the modern town of Armavir, about 42 km west-southwest of Yerevan in a straight line.
